....Birding on Anguilla in the Caribbean - 15th January -
11th February, 2000. By Martin Birch. The purpose of the visit was to identify potential Important Bird Areas (IBAs) as part of BirdLife International’s Americas conservation programme and to produce the first country checklist for Anguilla, on behalf of the Anguilla National Trust. This meant that I was in the field almost every day and so was able to visit most of the sites more than once. A full list of the birds seen during the visit is provided at the end of this report.
....Birds of Anguilla's Mangroves and Salt Ponds - Anguilla is both a
permanent home and a temporary stop-over during the migration seasons from May through September for eighty species of birds. They range in size from the diminutive bottle green Antillean Crested Hummingbird and the handsome black and white Bananaquit to the largest Magnificent Frigatebird and Brown Pelican. All may be seen in and around the island's costal and salt ponds.
