....Haiti Trip Report: by Hugh Dingle. Not many birders are

currently visiting Haiti, so I thought it might be useful to have a trip report, even though my trip was limited in coverage of the country. I visited Haiti from October 21-30, 2000 to see my daughter who was then working at the Albert Schweitzer Hospital at Deschappelles in the Artibonite Valley in the center of the country. The trip also included a brief stay in Port-au-Prince and a day trip to Kenscoff in the highlands south of PAP.

Fernandez. Considering there are many misconceptions and unanswered questions about travelling in Haiti, I decided to accept the invitation of my friend Philippe Bayard to visit Parc National La Visite in Massiff La Selle, Haiti. Hopefully my experiences during this trip will help clarify many of these questions, so that other collegues and friends can pursue similar visits in the future. The purpose of my trip was also to evaluate the possibilty of an avian research trip to La Visite later on this year and to asess the overall condition of Parc National La Visite.
